Itinerary for Spiti Valley – 7 Nights And 08 Days

Overview :-

Spiti is a remote Himalayan valley in the northeastern part of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti means “the middle land”, owing to its location between Tibet and India. The place is situated at a very high altitude and is popular for its scenic beauty. The region of Spiti is famous for its Buddhist culture and monasteries.

 

Day 01 – Chandigarh – Narkanda

Meals-Welcome drink and Dinner

 

On the First day of Spiti valley trip, we will start from Chandigarh and start our journey to Narkanda enroute Shimla,Kufri. It will take about 7-8 hours to reach Narkanda. Go to Hotel and check in.

Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02 – Narkanda – Rampur – Sangla

On the Second day of Spiti valley trip from Narkanda, we drive through Rampur, Tranda dhankh, Karcham dam and head towards Sangla valley. Being located at center of the Baspa valley, Sangla is the locus of exploration and trekking trails.

Overnight stay at hotel/homestay in Sangla.

Day 03 – Sangla – Chitkul – Kalpa

 On this day of our Spiti valley trip, we shall go for a sightseeing excursion to the beautiful village of Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. The drive to Chitkul is extremely scenic amidst snow -clad mountains, apple orchids and wooden houses. One can witness the unique architecture, local lifestyle and also visit the beautiful 500 years old Goddess ChitkulMathi temple here.

After a quick refueling stop at Sangla,we proceed towards Kalpa. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitantsmove to lower regions of Himachal. In venong reach kalpa and check in at hotel.

Overnight stay at hotel/homestay in Kalpa.

 

Day 04- Kalpa to tabo

On the Fourth day of our Spiti valley trip today we will visit Kalpa village then will proceed to tabo.On the way visit nako and Giumonastrary.

Kalpa is a beautiful and main village of Kinnaur. Across the river faces the majestic mountains of the KinnerKailash range. These are spectacular sights early in the morning as the rising sun touches the snowy peaks with crimson and golden light.,.

Visit the suicide point or straight drop point and get clicked from an angle that works Enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunset on KinnerKailash range from Kalpa.

We shall take a visit of Nako. Nako lies in Upper Kinnaur on the edge of remote spiti valley and an important centre of Tibetan Buddhism.Nako has seven temples of different periods distributed all over the village, including a monastic complex on its western edge.Nako is situated right on the Tibetan border over a beautiful lake.

Visit Giu monastery through Sumdo, Giu village is famous for its 500-years-old mummy of a Buddhist monk.

After that proceed to Tabo.

The second largest village of the Spiti Valley, Tabo is known worldwide for its 1020-year-old 'Tabo Monastery'. Walk around this UNESCO world heritage site and gain a deeper insight into Buddhism. Unlike other monasteries in the Spiti Valley, the Tabo monastery is located at the bottom of the valley.

Day 05- Tabo to kaza On the way Dhankar

This morning after breakfast check out from and visit

Dhankar, the former capital of the Spiti Valley, offers panoramic views of Spiti Valley. Dhankar stands perched above the confluence of the Spiti and Pin river. Perhaps there must have been a fort here once, but today Dhankar is renowned for its 1200-year old monastery balanced precariously on a rocky precipice.

By evening, drive to Kaza, the commercial capital of the Spiti valley and spend the night in a hotel in Kaza.

Day 06– Kaza – Langza – Hikkim – Komik – Ki Monastery – Kibber – Kaza

The highest village in Asia, Komik, which literally translates to ‘eye of a snow cock’, is situated at a height of 4513 meters. This farming village has a population of 84 people, living in utter isolation, cut-off from the rest of the world for most parts of the year.

Some of the common animals of the region are the Tibetan wolf, blue sheep, red fox, hare, snow cock, Himalayan griffin, rock pigeon etc.

Later, we drive to Hikkim where we visit the world’s highest post office in the world. If possible, you can even meet the post-master and hear his stories.

After sending out a postcard, we drive to Langza. Langza village is situated at an altitude of 4400 meters and belongs to the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Langza houses a population of 137 in 33 households. Once you are here, you can walk into the village and visit the ancient Lang (Temple) which is estimated to be around 1000 years old.

Later we will visit the world famous Ki Monastery. The car will first stop at the base of the monastery hill for the ultimate photo opportunity of this remarkable structure. With over 1000 years’ worth stories to tell, the Ki Monastery situated at a height of 13,668 feet was founded by a disciple of the famous Atisha, in the 11th century CE. Belonging to the Yellow Hat or Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, this monastery is famous as a prominent center of learning as well as a refuge for Tibetans.

Then we will move farther up the valley to the picturesque village of Kibber. Located at a height of 4205 meters and 18 km from Kaza, this formerly highest permanently inhabited village in this region, is also a popular base camp to embark on adventure and treks to adjoining mountains of high altitude.

From Kibber we will drive to Chicham Bridge, located across a sharp and precipitous canyon traversable only by a suspended wire cable basket system known as a Jula..

We drive back to Kaza in the evening and spend the night in a comfortable and warm Kaza hotel.

Day 07 – Kaza –Kunzum Pass – Chandratal Lake and stay at Manali(Off roading and no network area  till Koksar)

On this day of Spiti Valley tour,Morning after breakfast leave for Chandratal Lake by crossing Kunzam Pass(15,100ft) on the way we visit the world famous Ki Monastery. The car will first stop at the base of the monastery hill for the ultimate photo opportunity of this remarkable structure.

Proceed to Chandratal lake. On a way have a magnificent view of CB Ranges Peaks. This Deep Blue Water Has ACircumference Of 2.5 Kms. This Is The Source Of The River Chandra According ToSome Believers, This Is The Spot From Where The God Indra`S Chariot Took TheEldest Pandava Brother Yudhistra To Swarga To Heaven In His Mortal Form.

Later drive to Manali.

Overnight stay at Hotel.

 

 

Day 08 – Chandigarh Drop

Meals - Breakfast Only

 

On the 8th day of this Spiti Valley tour, from Manali,  we head back to Chandigarh .After 09-10 hours we will reach at Chandigarh. Our cab will drop you at Chandigarh.
