Day 1 : Chandigarh - Shimla - kufri – Narkanda

 

After arriving at the Chandigarh railway station/ Airport, our cab meets you and helps you with an assisted transfer to Narkanda, by road. Enroute take ,Kufri is a small hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla on the National Highway No.22. The region around Shimla including Kufri was once a part of the Kingdom of Nepal until the area was ceded to the British Raj as part of the Sugauli Treaty. This region remained obscure from the rest of the world until the British 'discovered' it in 1819. It is the Kufri bungalow which is very famous for its statues and architecture.Kufri to the Mahasu Peak- the highest peak in Kufri.The Indira Tourist Park is near the Himalayan Nature Park and provides panoramic view of the locations around After kufri continue drive towards Narkanda…overnight stay at Narkanda.

Day 2 : Narkanda  to Sarahan 

 

After breakfast we will firstly visit Hatu peak. Hatu peak is the highest peak in narkanda.It is famous for Hatu Mata temple. The road to the temple is covered by Deodar trees and Baan trees,which gives it a pleasant view.

After this we shall continue our journey to Sarahan.after reaching at Srahan .Check in at hotel.

Known as the Gateway to Kinnaur.
The chief landmark of this village is the impressive golden-spired Bhimakali temple that rises majestically against a snowy Himalayan backdrop. Perched at 1,920 metres, this Himachali hamlet commands a superb view of the surrounding Alpine countryside -- Rolling Meadows, apple orchards, flower-dotted valleys, silent forests, the swift Sutlej River and the haughty peaks. Day 03 – Sarahan – Sangla – Chitkul  

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

 On the Third day of Spiti valley trip from Sarahan, we drive through Jeori, Tranda dhankh, Karcham dam and head towards Sangla valley. Being located at center of the Baspa valley, Sangla is the locus of exploration and trekking trails. Bering Nag temple, Kamru village and fort, Sangla Buddhist temple and hike to Sangla Kanda, sangla lake are some of the places that one can explore. 

After that we shall go for a sightseeing excursion to the beautiful village of Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. The drive to Chitkul is extremely scenic amidst snow -clad mountains, apple orchids and wooden houses. One can witness the unique architecture, local lifestyle and also visit the beautiful 500 years old Goddess Chitkul Mathi temple here.

Overnight stay at hotel/homestay in Sangla/Chitkul.                  

Day 04 – Sangla – Nako – Sumdo – Tabo

 On the fourth day of our Spiti valley trip we start from Sangla/Chitkul to Nako. After that continue driving on the famous Hindustan – Tibet Highway or the NH 22 – This stretch is famously known as one of “most adventurous roads of the world” by the ‘Lonely Planet’ in a visual spectacle. Don’t let that little piece of information deter you because your local drivers are highly skilled and experienced while driving on these roads. As you begin embracing the jaw-dropping views, watch the mountains change their colours from the lush greens of the Kinnaur valley to the many hues of brown.

 

In afternoon you will reach at Nako. 11000+ ft Nako lies in Upper Kinnaur on the edge of remote spiti valley and an important centre of Tibetan Buddhism. Nako has seven temples of different periods distributed all over the village, including a monastic complex on its western edge.Nako is situated right on the Tibetan border over a beautiful lake. Tabo Monastery which was constructed in 996 AD. It is a complex that consists of 9 Temples, 23 Chortens, a monk’s chamber and an extension that houses the nun’s chamber. Above the enclave is a series of caves which are used by the monks. The monastery contains large number of scriptures and pieces of art including wall paintings and stucco. There is also a modern Gompa and a painting school founded by the Dalai Lama.

Day 05 – Tabo – Dhankar – Pin valley – Kaza

On the fifth day of this Spiti Valley tour, we check out from Tabo and drive towards Dhankar.

Dhankar, the former capital of the Spiti Valley, offers panoramic views of Spiti Valley. Dhankar stands perched above the confluence of the Spiti and Pin river. Perhaps there must have been a fort here once, but today Dhankar is renowned for its 1200-year old monastery balanced precariously on a rocky precipice. If time and energy permit, we can do the easy 45-minute trek to the stunning turquoise coloured Dhankar Lake.

After that we drive towards the beautiful Pin Valley. Imagine a national park with an abundance of animals and birds, with some rare plant varieties, a river that gushes when it isn’t frozen and trekking opportunities for the adventure-seekers. The Pin Valley promises all this and more.

We first visit the Kungri Monastery and then the beautiful hamlet of Mudh – the last motorable village of the Pin Valley.

Declared a national park in 1987, Pin Valley has altitudes ranging from 11,000 to 20,000 feet and is home to at least 12 endangered snow leopards. In addition, other animals indigenous to the region and park are the Siberian ibex, bharal, weasel, red fox, and marten. Birds such as the pika, griffon, golden eagle, bearded vulture, chukor and raven paint the skies a pretty picture.

By evening, drive to Kaza, the commercial capital of the Spiti valley and spend the night in a hotel in Kaza.

Day 06 – Kaza – Langza – Hikkim – Komik – Ki Monastery – Kibber – Kaza

On the sixth day of this Spiti Valley tour, we drive to some of the highest inhabited regions of the world.

The highest village in Asia, Komik, which literally translates to ‘eye of a snow cock’, is situated at a height of 4513 meters. This farming village has a population of 84 people, living in utter isolation, cut-off from the rest of the world for most parts of the year. This little hamlet ensures to bring you thousands of miles away from your familiar settings to a place of soft brown pastures and snow-white mountain peaks. Some of the common animals of the region are the Tibetan wolf, blue sheep, red fox, hare, snow cock, Himalayan griffin, rock pigeon etc.

Later, we drive to Hikkim where we visit the world’s highest post office in the world. If possible, you can even meet the post-master and hear his stories.

After sending out a postcard, we drive to Langza. Langza village is situated at an altitude of 4400 meters and belongs to the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Langza houses a population of 137 in 33 households. Once you are here, you can walk into the village and visit the ancient Lang (Temple) which is estimated to be around 1000 years old. At Langza, walk back to the prehistoric era when Spiti was submerged by the Tethys Sea, as you explore a land very rich with fossils of Marine animals and plants which were here millions of years ago.

We drive back down to Kaza for lunch. After that, we visit the world famous Ki Monastery. The car will first stop at the base of the monastery hill for the ultimate photo opportunity of this remarkable structure. With over 1000 years’ worth stories to tell, the Ki Monastery situated at a height of 13,668 feet was founded by a disciple of the famous Atisha, in the 11th century CE. Belonging to the Yellow Hat or Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, this monastery is famous as a prominent center of learning as well as a refuge for Tibetans. Being remotely located atop a hill overlooking endless plains, the Ki Monastery is an obvious choice for those seeking peace and calm.

Then we will move farther up the valley to the picturesque village of Kibber. Located at a height of 4205 meters and 18 km from Kaza, this formerly highest permanently inhabited village in this region, is also a popular base camp to embark on adventure and treks to adjoining mountains of high altitude. The expanses of beautiful landscapes and immeasurable beauty of the snow-tipped mountains make the place a haven for nature-lovers and photographers alike. From Kibber you can trek to Chicham Village, located across a sharp and precipitous canyon traversable only by a suspended wire cable basket system known as a Jula. We drive higher up to the secluded village of Gette where we absorb stunning aerial views of Kaza and tie a prayer flag.

We drive back to Kaza in the evening and spend the night in a comfortable and warm Kaza hotel.

 

 

Day 7 : Kaza – Kalpa

 

Early in the morning after breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Kalpa. It will take around 10 hours to reach at Kalpa by cab. In evening reach Kalpa check into the hotel. Dinner at stay at Kalpa.

Day 8 : Kalpa sight seen and drive to Narkanda

 

After breakfast we shall drive to visit the beautiful town of Kalpa. One can enjoy spectacular views of the sacred Kinner Kailash Peak, one of the most beautiful peaks in the Himalayas on the way.
Situated at the height of 2758 m above the sea level and 110 km from Sarahan, Kalpa is a beautiful and main village of Kinnaur. Across the river faces the majestic mountains of the Kinner Kailash range. These are spectacular sights early in the morning as the rising sun touches the snowy peaks with crimson and golden light.
After visit get back to Narkanda. It will take 5-6 hours to reach at Narkanda. Overnight stay and dinner at Narkanda.

Day 9 : Narkanda - Chandigarh drop

 

This day early check out from Hotel and drive back to Chandigarh. Our representative drop you at railway station/ Airport before 11 AM. It’s been a great journey. And it’s not the end. On the contrary, it’s the beginning. It’s the beginning of a promise to return to the fascinating himalyan valleys where you made friends for life with its people, the colours of the landscape, the smell of fresh air, the gaze of the millions of stars and your always-smiling friends.
